The planned repairs and upgrades continue. The project is expected to be complete sometime in January.
At this point, the asbestos ceiling tile has been removed and other demolition begun. Over the next several weeks, the bathrooms will be made ADA compliant, the underground oil tank (which does not meet current code) will be replaced with an above-ground unit that will be hidden by shrubs, LED lighting will replace the fixtures installed in the early 1970s throughout the building, the kitchen stove vent system will be updated to meet the building code, air conditioning will be installed in the meeting rooms and office, the walls of the meeting rooms will updated, the roof and asbestos insulation will be removed and replaced, and tripping hazards will be eliminated with new concrete curbs.
**During the construction, the fire department will operate as normal, responding to all alarms.
